Kick off Festivities for World’s Largest Pool Party

LAS VEGAS – America’s favorite desert playground is serious about summer. Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman and Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown will declare “summer in Paradise” early—a full month ahead of the rest of the northern hemisphereThe official proclamation will take place in front of the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the iconic landmark.

A retrospective runway fashion show, hosted by everyone’s favorite Girl Next Door Holly Madison, will follow the proclamation. The fashion show, which will literally stop traffic as the city shuts down The Strip, will feature swimwear from the fifties to the present day.

Festivities then continue down The Strip as the city stages the “World’s Largest Bikini Parade” along famed Las Vegas Boulevard. More than 300 bikini-clad ladies will parade down The Strip in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record that is sure to usher in Las Vegas’ warm summer months in style.

“Las Vegas has an incredibly unique and vibrant pool culture that is unlike any other in the world,” says Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.  “No where is the pool more celebrated than in Las Vegas where our world-class resorts have conceived of unique pool concepts that our millions of visitors enjoy each year.”

Whether you’re keen to swim with card sharks at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino or swim with the real thing at downtown’s Golden Nugget — catch waves at The Beach at Mandalay Bay or lounge in XS-eptional beauty at Encore, nowhere is the pool more celebrated than fabulous Las Vegas. The “Entertainment Capital of the World” maintains its status and welcomes A-list artists at poolside venues throughout the summer and this year promises to be even better with new pool oases and unsurpassed entertainment that has already included stops by entertainers like Snoop Dogg and Eek-a-Mouse.
